To create wool painting “Hot air balloon flight among the stars”, I was inspired by illustrator Roberto Weigand. I admire his artwork, especially the way he employs starry skies and color in his illustrations. I combined our two different artistic styles and create an imaginative hot air balloon painting for nursery. The resulting picture envisions two people drifting in a hot air balloon through an evening sky, strewn with sparkly stars. My handmade wool artwork is fashioned using a color palette of blue tones. The night-blue sky provides the perfect backdrop to the light-blue hot air balloon in the picture’s center. The strands of wool create texture, and are carefully placed beneath the balloon to form the fluffy white clouds. Various sized stars, composed of metallic-like confetti, are strewn across the sky and sparkle on the dark-blue background. When you look at “Hot air balloon flight among the stars” wool painting you immediately visualize yourself flying onward, and journeying toward new adventures. This kid’s room wall decor will elevate your child’s imagination and let it soar high into the starry night. Before bedtime, your little one will tell you stories about imagined sky-high adventures. After drifting off to sleep, the dream journey will continue until morning, and then more stories will be revealed.
The wool painting “Hot air balloon flight among the stars” is an original artwork. Painting size: 11 x 14 inches (27.9 x 35.6 cm). Painting is nicely framed in a black frame and ready to hang. Overall size: 11 ¼ x 14 ¼ inches (28.6 x 36.2 cm).
I also offer different frames and can switch to the frame of your choice.
You can also buy the wool painting as is, without frame and glass. To keep the painting safe during shipping, a plexiglass cover will be used to protect the fibers. You can then use the frame of your choice to display the image.
To create my paintings, I use a unique technique called “Wool Painting”, also known as “Wool Watercolor”. All of my paintings are made from 100% Merino sheep’s wool by hand placing fine wool fibers layer by layer on the back of the picture frame, covered with glass and inserted into the frame. This process does not use any glue, needle, water, or paint.
Wool paintings carry special warmth and energy as wool is a natural, living material that keeps the mood and warmth of artist’s hands. Wool paintings have useful properties: they relax, soothe, and calm as the viewer pleasantly examines them. A photo of a wool painting does not convey all that can be felt upon close and detailed examination. By owning such painting, you can ask your guests the mysterious question of what material is it made of. They will generally be indecisive on if it is painted in oil or with watercolor, but decidedly delighted when they learn it is natural sheep’s fiber. Wool painting is always a stylish decoration and original gift. It creates an atmosphere of magic and fills your home with comfort.
